DexaFit Body Scan

No barium or contrast imaging within 7 days of your appointment.

24 Hours Beforehand:

  • No calcium supplements or antacids like TUMS®.

The Day of your Test:

  • Fast for at least 2 hours. Water is fine, stay hydrated.

  • Limit exercise. Skip the morning workout.

  • Wear close-fitting clothing. No metal, zippers, or underwire.

  • You will be asked to remove jewelry, watches, eyeglasses, and similar items. Small jewelry that is difficult to remove can stay on.

  • Internal artifacts, such as hip and knee replacements, are fine.

During the scan you will relax on an open-air DEXA scan table. The process is quick and uses minimal radiation—0.4µSv or equivalent to a few hours of natural background radiation. The DexaFit scan is a straightforward, non-invasive procedure designed for your comfort and convenience, providing valuable insights into your body composition and bone density.

  • Get a good night's sleep.

The Day of your Test:

  • Fast for at least 3 hours before your appointment. Water is fine, stay hydrated.

  • No caffeine, stimulants, or nicotine.

During a VO2 Max test, you'll perform a graded exercise test on a treadmill or bike, starting at low intensity and gradually increasing to your maximum effort under careful monitoring. You'll be fitted with a mask that measures your oxygen consumption and CO2 output, providing data on your aerobic capacity. The goal is to gradually push your body to its limit so we can see how efficiently your heart, lungs, and muscles work together under stress. It’s challenging, but the results give you powerful insight into your endurance, performance, and overall health.

Please read our Terms & Conditions for more information about this test.

Your RMR accounts for about 70% of your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE). Knowing it is essential for accurately gauging your daily calorie needs. This information is critical whether you're aiming to lose weight, build muscle, or maintain your current state. It's the foundational number on which your nutrition and fitness plans should be built.

You’ll leave your appointment with clear data and expert guidance that can inform your long-term cardiovascular, fitness, and wellness strategy.

Important Notice Regarding Pre-Test Protocols

While there is ongoing discussion in the scientific and medical community regarding optimal pre-test conditions, these recommended protocols represent guidelines designed to ensure reliable and reproducible results.

For the most accurate comparison between baseline and follow-up assessments, we strongly recommend maintaining consistent conditions across all tests (e.g., similar time of day, fasting state, hydration levels). Additionally, for all tests, please ensure you are well-rested and free from illness, as fatigue or sickness can significantly impact results.
